The Apartment is a replica of nicoykatiushka’s NYC apartment set in the heart of downtown Santiago (Chile) in Sala de Arte SAM. In The Apartment there is an unmade bed, a bathroom sink and a series of furniture with projected images of NyK occupying the objects and space within their NYC apartment. As is often seen in NyK’s work the body as a single mediated body is present throughout the space. A passive and somewhat uncomfortable effect is generated due to the intimate ambience created by The Apartment.
The Apartment is curated by Constanza Güell and was installed in Sala de Arte SAM for two months during 2006.
The Apartment es una replica exacta del departamento de NyK en Nueva York, montado en la Sala de Arte SAM en Santiago, Chile. Dentro del “departamento”, una cama desecha, un lavatorio y una serie de muebles en donde se proyectan vídeos de NyK conviviendo en el espacio y utilizando los muebles como escenario para crear una serie de vídeos donde se combina ambos cuerpos de NyK para crear un nuevo cuerpo mediatizado por el vídeo, generando un efecto pasivo y a la vez incomodo, producto de la intimidad generada por el ambiente creado por el “departamento”.
The Apartment fue una curatoria de Constanza Güell and fue instalada durante dos meses en el año 2006.
